Ranbir Kapoor hasn۪t been seen much on screen lately. After his award winning act in last year۪s Rockstar۪, all eyes were on his deaf-mute act in Anurag۪s Basu۪s Barfii۪. The UTV production which had been delayed incessantly was finally due to see the light of day on 31st August. But UTV has now delayed its release further to 14th September to accommodate the Akshay-Sonakshi starrer Joker۪ (which will still release as per schedule on31stAugust), and word is that Kapoor is none too happy with this reshuffle.
The film has taken a long time to finish. Now if the release date is postponed, it would automatically disturb the commitments he made keeping the original release date in mind. Ranbir didn۪t express any displeasure about the decision, but he is concerned about his schedules said a source to Hindustan Times.
UTV۪s decision is perfectly justified of course. Business wise it makes no sense to release two of their productions with top stars on the same day and the post production work for Barfii۪ is still pending.
The postponement of the film might sabotage the schedules of his other releases mainly Ayan Mukerji۪s Yeh Jawani Hain Deewani۪ (with Deepika Padukone) which is due to release a couple of months after Barfii۪.
Ranbir might need to cut short the promotions of Barfii۪ to fit in his prior commitments, the source went on to add.
‘Barfii۪ recounts the story of Murphy (Kapoor) a deaf, mute character and his love story with an autistic girl Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra). The film is directed by Anurag Basu and also stars Telugu star Ileana D۪Cruz as the film۪s narrator.
