Ranbir Kapoor has been confirmed as the co-producer of Anurag Kashyap-headed Phantom Productions’ ‘Bombay Velvet’.
Not only will the actor star in it but will now also make his debut as co-producer for the much anticipated project. Talking to Times Of India, Kapoor said, “Innovative content excites me and I believe the Phantom team is a pioneer at it. This seems to be the perfect time in my career to take up bigger ownership of a film and be a producer.”
Vikas Bahl, from Phantom Productions said, “As a team we realised his inputs to the script is much more than an actor’s. He looks at the bigger picture, the scope of the film beyond his role. And that is when it occurred to us that it would be great to have him play a part in the production as well.”
The film, which also stars Anushka Sharma is said to be based on historian Gyan Prakash’s ‘Mumbai Fables’. It revolves around the city becoming a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and Jazz music.
