The coming year is set to bring about a number of clashes at the box office as the fight to get the best collections hots up following the mass success of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and also ‘Chennai Express’ this year. BizAsia has learnt that Ranbir Kapoor-Arjun Rampal starrer ‘Roy’ may well be pitted against Sidharth Malhotra’s tentatively titles ‘The Villain’ in June 2014.
Admittedly, it was the makers of ‘Roy’ that shotgunned their release initially on the 20th June 2014. However, it seems Balaji Motion Pictures are once again readying themselves for a box office battle as they are wanting to release ‘The Villain’, directed by Mohit Suri, on the same day. A source informed Deccan Chronicle, “One wonders if the decision has been taken after major speculations about Ranbir۪s role in ‘Roy’ being a supporting role”.
Interestingly, Mohit Suri would be – for argument’s sake – conflicting with Bhushan Kumar, producer of ‘Roy’, who financed his last offering ‘Aashiqui 2’ earlier this year.
