Ranbir Kapoor is planning to put weight on to mould into the character of Sanjay Dutt in his upcoming biopic.
Hindustan Times reports filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani confirming the same, “Ranbir is a great actor. And I am sure he will be able to do full justice to the role. For the film, he wants to put on weight, so that he can take up the journey (of the character) effectively. We have already told Ranbir what are we doing, and how we are going to approach the story. And he is excited.”
In the same report, Hirani adds that it was not important to have an actor looking like Dutt. “It wasn۪t necessary that we have to find an actor who resembles Sanju. Still, you look at Sanju۪s picture from Rocky (1981) days and Ranbir۪s. They both have a similar stardom۪ on their face. Also, if you look at Ben Kingsley (who played Mahatma Gandhi in Richard Attenborough۪s Gandhi; 1982), he has no real resemblance with Gandhiji. Unlike Gandhiji, Kingsley is tall.”
