Ram Madhvani to work on historical series based on Jallianwala Bagh

Ram Madhvani, the highly acclaimed filmmaker who previously worked on films such as Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Neerja’ (2016) and Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming ‘Dhamaka,’ is all set to create an ambitious new historical drama as a web series based on the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy.

A source close to the development mentioned that the project, tentatively titled ‘Jallianwala Bagh – The Waking Of A Nation,’ is based on research from the Hunter Commission that was formed to investigate what happened in Punjab and especially at Jallianwala Bagh. The series would be produced under his banner ‘Ram Madhvani Films.’

Madhvani’s news was announced not long after filmmaker Karan Johar has announced his next film, which coincidently is to be set in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. The film will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and will be based on true events, according to Johar.
