Ram Gopal Varma planning five-episode series on Dawood Ibrahim

As far as gangster films go, one of the most famous inspirations filmmakers have is that of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Though there have only been a few films low-key based on one of India’s top criminal minds, it will be Ram Gopal Varma who is setting out to tell his full story, in a five-part series.

According to Mumbai Mirror the filmmaker will title the series ‘D Company’, which is also the true name of Ibrahim’s empire. Talking to the media about the project Verma expressed, “The research came from my extensive interactions over 20 years with gangsters, encounter cops, middlemen and film people involved with the underworld. The series will not be a Dawood biopic but will present the big picture of D-Company, from its inception to its growth as the most dreaded organisation in India’s criminal history.”

Apparently, Varma will using the real names of those linked to Ibrahim and his dealings in India and Dubai, as well as portray true events that happen which linked to the gangster.
