Rakul Preet Singh goes back to school for her upcoming film ‘Doctor G’

Rakul Preet Singh who is set to play a medical student in the campus-comedy drama ‘Doctor G’, recently shared that the cast of the film had to learn medical terminology and nuances to ensure their characters came across authentic.

Reported on Mid-day, the ‘De De Pyaar De’ (2019) actor who will be taking on the role of Doctor Fatima Duggal, worked with medical experts to help with the preparations. It was also the wish of director Anubhuti Kashyap that the cast were able to enact confidently whether that was speaking in medical terminology or handling surgical instruments.

Talking about her experience playing a doctor, Preet Singh said, “Shooting for ‘Doctor G’ has turned out to be an interesting experience. Since I play a doctor, the mannerisms and actions needed to be precise. It was mandatory to learn important things related to the medical world to make it look real on-screen. The journey of becoming Doctor Fatima was an amazing process which I will cherish forever.”

Further adding, “We wanted Fatima to look authentic. We did multiple look tests to get her look right. The idea was for her to look as close to real as possible and bring out the endearing quality of her character. By just wearing the doctor’s coat, you suddenly get a sense of responsibility even though I was only playing a character. While treating patients for scenes, one truly understands how much responsibility doctors have on their shoulders and how difficult their life is.”

The makers have wrapped up an extensive shoot schedule in Prayagraj and are set to complete the film by the end of this month. ‘Doctor G’ will also feature Ayushmann Khurrana and Shefali Shah in lead roles.
