Rakshabandhan Special: 5 characters who’d be best real-life brothers

The annual festival of Rakshabandhan always puts spotlight on the brother-sister relationship. However, when it comes to Bollywood, one wonders which characters in recent times would make desirable siblings in real life. BizAsia is looking at five male leads who would make ideal brothers in real life.

Ranveer Singh in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015)

What can be said about Ranveer Singh’s character, Kabir, of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’? He always stands by his sister Ayesha, even in her most difficult moments. He brings sunshine to her life and makes her understand what her next step should be. If these aren’t good traits that a sister might ask for in a brother than we don’t know what are.

Hrithik Roshan in ‘Agneepath’ (2012)

Who can deny that Hrithik Roshan as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in 2012’s remake of ‘Agneepath’ saw him play one of the most perfect characters that a lady would want to tie a rakhi on. His care, warmth and special place for his teenage sister were the scenes where his character’s weaknesses were seen. It was also those scenes that showed the viewers that he had a heart despite all the other actions his character was engaging in.

Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004)

Main Hoon Na - SRK Zayed Khan

Farah Khan’s ‘Main Hoon Na’ is a film that saw Shah Rukh Khan in a never seen before type of role. Despite his romantic side showing for his love interest played by Sushmita Sen, the actor must be appreciated for his brotherly role towards Zayed Khan. This was also apparent with his protective behaviour for Amrita Rao and it’s one such character who seems to be kind of brother that many would be more than happy to have for real.

Farhan Akhtar in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ (2013)

Although the scenes that Farhan Akhtar as Milkha Singh has with his on-screen sister Divya Dutta were few and far between, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra included moments with them both which truly warmed the audiences’ hearts. Their lives were indeed eventful but their bond remained strong and this was something that stayed with you much after the film.

Salman Khan in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (2015)

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Kabir Khan gave cinema an eternal and universal brother in the form of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. Salman Khan played a character which will remain one of his best, and he can be described as being everyone’s brother. His quest to ensure that a girl was reunited with her parents who lived in Pakistan after she was lost in India is something that was both heartwarming and humanely touching.

BizAsia would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Rakshabandhan.
