Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ end comes with a twist

Viewers in the UK will find out tonight who item girl Rakhi Sawant will “marry” when the charttopping show ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ comes to an end.

The programme in which Rakhi will see the loud-mouthed TV queen announcing Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala as her ideal groom, has performed phenomenally well for the channel.

In a twist to the show, Rakhi told Times Of India that she has decided against marriage instead opting for engagement only.

She told the paper, “Let me clarify, I’m not getting married, now. I۪m selecting someone from the show to be my life partner. It۪s more of an engagement. So far, I۪ve dated the contestants on camera. Now, I۪ll date the man I select off camera. I need to know the person well and I can۪t gamble with my life for the sake of entertainment. There will be no saat pheres, maang mein sindoor or wearing a mangalsutra just yet. If after knowing the person well, I feel that he۪s my Prince Charming, I۪ll tie the knot.”

‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ concluded in India last night and registered a TRP of 6.3. According to overnight audience measurement agency aMap, it has been the highest TRPs so far for the channel.

The finale came after over a month of putting 16 men to test their compatibility with the bride-to-be.

Three final contestants including Delhi-based Manas Katyal and Chhitiz Jain, apart from Elesh had come with their families for the swayamvar at the grand event held at The Leela Kempinsky hotel here.

The show was a success since beginning as even its pioneer episode, which aired 29th June, recorded a 3.5 TRP – the highest ratings among all the previous launches of NDTV Imagine, said aMap in a release.

The final will be shown on NDTV Imagine at 21:00.
