'Aks' (2001) to be re-released

Following the great success of Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ (2013), director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is definitely on a high. So much so is his faith in his own talent that he is planning on re-releasing his debut directorial film, ‘Aks’ (2001).

A source spoke to Deccan Chronicle and revealed, “When it released, it was one of the most awaited movies. It had opened well too, but then owing to a complicated screenplay, edit pattern and an unheard of subject, the supernatural thriller couldn۪t sustain its run. It was touted as a film that was way ahead of its times۪. But now Mehra feels that the film can be revived for the current generation of audience…”

Mehra himself also expressed, “Well, back then they said that the film was 10 years ahead. Now 12 years have passed, so that means it۪s time…I am working on a redux۪ version. The first step would be to release a special DVD and BluRay…Once that happens, we will take a call on the film۪s theatrical re-run”.

The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, Manoj Bajpai and Nandita Das.
