Being one of Bollywood’s most acclaimed filmmakers, Rakesh Roshan has a very strong feeling that his son Hrithik Roshan, will follow in his footsteps in getting behind the camera one day.
“I feel Hrithik, who is such a successful actor, far more than I ever could be, has a filmmaker lurking within him. He will one hundred percent direct a film some day. Mark my words, he’ll be a very fine director. I am sure of that. He may not be a good producer, but he’ll be a terrific director,” NDTVreport senior Roshan stating.
Talking of his own career, the filmmaker goes on to explain how he decided to direct as he wasn’t getting the appreciation that he’d hoped for in acting. “When I was an actor, I could feel a filmmaker lurking within me. But I was never satisfied as an actor. I had a big hit like ‘Kaamchor’ (1982). But that helped Jaya Prada’s career, not mine. I knew god wanted me to be a director.”
Ever since he launched junior Roshan in ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ (2000), he has only ever cast his son in all his films. He seems to be adamant to carry on the trend, “He can work with outside directors. But I’d never work with any other actor, unless I am making an out-and-out heroine-oriented film like ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’ (1988). I might be tempted to make a film with a female protagonist, but only if Hrithik is too busy to work with me.”
Junior Roshan has definitely proved himself a diverse actor, and if and when the time comes it will sure be interesting to see what magic he will make as a director.
