Rajkummar Rao’s ‘5 Weddings’ to premiere at Cannes Film Festival

With Bollywood taking the world by storm, the industry has now become an integral part of the infamous Cannes Film Festival. With more films and filmmakers being recognised through the event, this year will see Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming ‘5 Weddings’ have its own big premiere during the festival.

Directed by Namrata Singh Gujral, the film also stars Nargis Fakhri. Talking about the premiere, Mumbai Mirror reports Gujral explaining, “We are thrilled! This will be the first time an audience will watch the film so it is exciting but also nerve-wracking.”

‘5 Weddings’ will see Rao playing the role of a police officer named Harabhajan Singh who is hired to assist a journalist journey through India. “The film is a colourful mosaic of lost loves, transgender tangles and culture clashes along the heartfelt journey of life, symbolised by the universal ups and downs of a wedding celebration,” added the director.
