Rajkummar Rao on sexual allegations against Vikas Bahl: “What’s wrong is wrong”

Rajkummar Rao is the latest person to speak out against sexual harassment in the industry and against director Vikas Bahl who has been recently ousted for his misconduct towards an employee at Phantom production house in 2017.

Reported on Hindustan Times, Rao has strongly condemned the actions of those who have been exposed so far. “It’s very shocking and sad. What happened was very unfortunate. I strongly condemn whatever is going on. What is wrong is wrong.” The ‘Newton’ (2017) actor further added, “We as an industry should come together to protect everyone, be it men or women, against any kind of harassment, and I hope and pray that God will give strength to that girl to come out of it even stronger.”

The ‘Stree’ (2018) actor then went on to say that the industry needs to be more united in making it safer for women. “We have to address the safety of women and that is of utmost importance right now, I would love to work only with people with ethics and the right moral conduct.”

In light of the Bahl allegations, Anurag Kashyap released a statement of the incident which had taken place in 2017 and though he was aware, realised that more should have been done at the time. Both Bahl and Kashyap together with Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena headed the Phantom production house, which has now since been dissolved following the allegations.

Hrithik Roshan also put out a statement on Twitter condoning the actions of Bahl, as he is currently working his next ‘Super 30’, which was being directed by the same. “It is impossible for me to work with any person if he/she is guilty of such grave misconduct. I am away and have access to only sporadic information. I have requested the producers of Super 30 to take stock of the apparent facts and take a harsh stand if need be. This is not to be hushed or brushed under the carpet.”
