The forthcoming film ‘Peekay’, which brings together filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and the actor with the Midas Touch, Aamir Khan, already has many expectations attached to it following the untouchable success 2009’s ‘3 Idiots’. BizAsia has learnt that the film’s theatrical rights have been bought for a huge Rs 118 crores.

Komal Nahta, trade analsyt, confirmed on Twitter the striking of a deal between Vidhu Vinod Chopra and UTV Motion Pictures who will be distributing the movie both within and outside of India. Nahta tweeted, “Needless to say, the deal for P.K., directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is the biggest ever deal for a Hindi film’s theatrical rights”.

The film stars Anushka Sharma opposite Khan and also an appearance from Sushant Singh Rajput. News has it that Kiran Rao will also be seen in the film as a special appearance.

‘Peekay’ is slated for release next year and is being co-directed by Khan’s son, Junaid.
