Rajesh Kamat to leave Viacom18 in June

Rajesh Kamat, COO ��� Viacom18 Group and CEO ��� Colors has quit his post to join The Chernin Group�۪s CA Media, as its India CEO.

Rajesh has been with Viacom18 for over three years and was instrumental in launching Colors and taking it to leadership position. A part from Colors, Rajesh also identified newer growth and opportunity areas for the Group and helped in setting up Sun18.

While all the Colors�۪ functions will now directly report into Haresh Chawla, Rajesh will continue to be with Viacom18 till June, to ensure seamless transition.

Talking of the development, Haresh Chawla, Group CEO ��� Viacom18, said, “Rajesh has played a significant part in extending and establishing Viacom18�۪s strong footprint in the GEC category. As he now moves on to a new challenge in a new role and domain, I wish him luck for his continued success.”

Talking about Colors, Haresh added, “Over the last few weeks we�۪ve launched new and unique programming concepts on the channel and the results are showing. We�۪re narrowing our gap with the leader every week and given our lineup in weeks to come, we expect the trend to continue.”

Talking about his decision, Rajesh commented, “My assignment with Viacom18 has been one of my most challenging as well as gratifying periods of my professional career.
