Rajesh Kamat elevated to Viacom-18 COO

Days ahead of its debut in the international market, Viacom-18 has announced a string of key changes to its organisation structure.

First up, Rajesh Kamat has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer of the Viacom-18 Group. In his new role, Kamat will oversee network functions of Viacom-18 and Viacom-18�۪s growth ventures, while continuing his role as Colors�۪ CEO. Kamat would continue to report into Haresh Chawla, Group CEO, Viacom-18.

Ashish Patil is moved from MTV to Kamat�۪s team as Sr. VP- New Ventures and GM – Youth Movies. In his new role he would work with Rajesh on exploring growth opportunities for Viacom-18.

INX Media’s Vikas Verma has joined Viacom-18�۪s youth channel, as the head of Creative & Content ��� brand MTV.

In a statement, Haresh Chawla, Group CEO ��� Viacom-18, said, “The last 24 months have been very exciting for Viacom-18, and all our brands (Colors, MTV, Nick and VH1) have ended year 2009, at the Number 1 spot in their respective categories. As we move into our next phase of growth, it�۪s critical to have a structure that supports our ambitions and fuels expansion.”

He added, “Given what Rajesh has accomplished with Colors, I am confident of his abilities to not only seek newer growth avenues for Viacom-18 but also consolidate our network functions.”

Meanwhile, the group is in the final stages of the launch of Colors in the UK/USA. The channel is expected to go live on Sky Digital EPG 829 on Monday 25th January.
