RAJAR: Panjab Radio impresses with first national figures

The UK’s first national Punjabi targeted station, Panjab Radio has delivered impressive figures for its first set of RAJAR data.

According to Q2/18 data published by RAJAR today, Panjab Radio has registered a weekly reach of 213,000 listeners. The station up until now had only reported listening figures for digital listening. This is the first time that Panjab Radio has signed up to audience figures for the entire UK.

Surprisingly with its niche audience, Panjab Radio and its closest rival, Sunrise Radio National have only 117,000 listeners separating them. Today, Sunrise Radio National delivered 330,000 listeners and BBC Asian Network continued with its strong hold of 675,000 listeners.

A jubilant Surjit Ghuman, Managing Director, Panjab Radio told BizAsiaLive.com , “I’m absolutely delighted I made the decision to invest in national RAJAR, it’s certainly paid off. Q1 2018 RAJAR in London registered 88,000 listeners, the latest data released today increases Panjab Radio’s reach to 213,000 listeners across the UK.

The efforts marketing the station over the last three months, combined with relevant and targeted programming to the UK’s Panjabi population has delivered a fantastic set of results. We’re a very proud team at Panjab Radio today. We won’t be complacent, our marketing push will continue throughout the remainder of 2018

Again, the numbers only account for our digital audience, Panjab 1584AM, the north/East London analogue service is not measured, maybe it’s time to start!”
