Airlift sets - Akshay Kumar, Raja Krishna Menon 340x

Last month saw the release of ‘Airlift’ which starred Akhay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur. The film opened to a great response and got positive reviews. Director Raja Krishna Menon is hopeful that Kumar gets an award for his performance.

Talking to Absolute India, Menon said, “I really hope Akshay gets an award for best actor. He is fantastic in the film. I will be very happy if he gets one. We have done a good job at various departments so I will be happy if we get awards.”

“I have to give credit to Akshay. Not only did he accept a role of this kind, but was also not nervous stepping completely outside his comfort zone. He did it with confidence and even allowed me to explore my creative side,” he said.

He added, “Post Airlift, industry has been very positive. The producers that I have worked with in Airlift are interested in working on something together. It۪s been a tough year for me to get the film out so I will take few weeks and decide next. I want to work with right people. Industry has become much nicer place to be. After Airlift, more doors are open than before. Life has changed after Airlift. People are interested in what I am doing”.

Menon has recently admitted that he is in talks to direct ‘Chef’ next which Saif Ali Khan has already been signed for.
