‘Raise The Roof’ event leaves audience with positive impact on their mental health & wellbeing

Rain Dance Colour Festival raised the roof to welcome in the new year at Manchester’s Opera House on Saturday 14th January 2023. BizAsia were partners of the event which included a star-studded line-up of global talent including social media DJ sensation AJ Wavy, the newest fusion artist Saloni, global fusion icons Arjun and Navin Kundra as well as an all singing and all dancing show stopping headline star performance from ‘King of Bhangra’ Malkit Singh MBE.

It was a night to remember, celebrating global music and dance including representing the ethnic diaspora, but at the heart of the show was raising awareness around mental health and wellbeing within the community. Music is my medication, is one of the slogans Rain Dance Colour Festival are promoting through their events, which rang true on Saturday night for a crowd filling the seats of historical Opera House in Manchester.

The live concert was supported by Manchester Mind, and the British Asian Trust, founded by the King, to promote the importance of mental health, with visuals displayed throughout the concert of wellbeing tips and inspirational quotes.

Live on the day audience research conducted by Rain Dance Colour received positive feedback stating that 100% of people that took part in the survey agreed that the concert had a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

As cultural identity changes through generations one thing remains the same, the love for native film and music. As one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world, India’s Bollywood has always provided an escape into a dramatic, colourful, and musical extravaganza that reaches global audiences who enjoy the flamboyance of the films. Across the continent you’ll find a large fan base from the neighbouring Arab peninsula to the South East Asian community, to America, across Africa and Europe. Irrespective of the difference in language, Indian music has a magical way of illuminating joy, it allows you to park your problems, transcending woes to whoops and allowing relief from everyday reality.

The partnerships and awareness continues with Rain Dance Colour Festival clothing now being promoted with the same mental health messaging. Music is my Medication, Good Vibes, Chak De Phatte, Panda – Let’s Ride Together and Live in the Moment, are all bold and vibrant designs, with the launch of hoodies, t-shirts, caps & beanies at the event was successful with the audience showing an appetite to carry on Rain Dance Colour Festival’s journey, who will also be donating proceeds from their clothing line and event sales to the charities Manchester Mind and British Asian Trust.

After the success of Rain Dance Colour Festival’s Global Countdown held traditionally globally on NYE, and the recent ‘Raise The Roof’ experience at Opera House in Manchester, they are now looking to tour ‘Raise The Roof’ in the UK, with shows in Liverpool, Birmingham and Leeds in discussion.
