Rahat Fateh Ali Khan: “I miss my Indian fans”

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

After the smash hit “Jag Ghoomeya” from ‘Sultan’ (2016) last year, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been busy working on his independent projects.

Reported in Mid-day, the musical maestro has so far released an album titled ‘Ramadan’ and also a few singles too. Music critics adored Khan’s ‘Halka Halka Suroor Hai’, which was recreated and featured Ayushmann Khurrana. Now Khan has a new single called ‘Saware’, composed and written by Anupama Raag, featuring actor Kunal Kemmu. Khan started work on this single before the September Uri attacks.

The Qawwali singer told Hitlist from London that he hopes to continue doing more independent projects. “I did two singles last year and wish to work on many more. We were working on Saware for long. I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I did working on it.”

He added, “I miss my Indian fans. Jaise hi haalath behtar honge, main India zaroor aaunga (I will definitely visit India as soon as things get better between the two countries). I have always got love from my fans in India and Pakistan, and I am confident they will continue to admire my work.”

Currently Khan has no Bollywood songs in the pipeline, but he does have a new album that will release later in the year. Khan also reveals that he is more selective about the types of songs he does saying, “For me, quality is more important that quantity. Even if you look at my songs in Bollywood, I have been selective. My first track (Mann Ki Lagan from the film Paap) released in 2003 and I didn’t sing anything else that year. For me, doing good music is most important.”
