Radio XL gets set for Sky Digital launch

The Midlands popular Asian radio station Radio XL is all set to launch on Sky Digital later this year.

Radio XL broadcasts from Bradford Street in Birmingham to the Midlands on 1296AM. It launched ten years ago and shot straight to the top in the popularity charts and has not since looked back. It continues to dominate the West Midlands as the only commercial Asian radio station.

According to insiders at the station, it has been seeking carriage on Sky Digital but the long wait in Sky issuing new EPG numbers has resulted in Radio XL delaying its proposed satellite launch.

Radio XL will become the first Asian radio station from the Midlands to broadcast on Sky Digital. Commercial London rivals Sunrise Radio and Club Asia have been available for many years. East Midlands Sabras Radio and Manchester based Asian Sound have currently no plans to launch on digital satellite.
