Coventry’s first and only Punjabi community station, Radio Panj has begun testing.

The station, which will be available on 1521AM, is running trial runs of its broadcast until it begins its officially programming on 1st January 2017.

In a message on its Facebook page, Radio Panj posted the following message: “Right Guys and Gals, time for social media to do its thing…as you know Radio Panj is preparing to come back with a bang and take you all on a never ending musical journey! To get involved contact us now…whether you fancy yourself as a presenter, want to advertise your business or just volunteer your time, all of your help and support is appreciated!”

Radio Panj’s nearest commercial competitors will be Radio XL in Birmingham and Sabras Radio in Leicester, both of which spill into the Coventry area. While Radio Panj will specialise in Punjabi-only content, its two commercial rivals also broadcast a number of hours catering for the Punjabi community.
