BBC Radio One today confirmed that it has made a series of significant changes to its line-up of specialist shows. The biggest winners that emerged from these new changes were specialist show presenters that include our very own desi Bobby and Nihal who have proven to be a huge worldwide hit with their Saturday early morning (03:00) slot.

In hearing the news Nihal said: “We have been handed the most amazing opportunity to highlight the musical talent that exists within our communities. We will be messing with peoples minds as we show how Asian music is continuing to redefine the musical soundscape.”

Bobby continued by saying: “This is unbelievable news, a couple of years ago, Asian music on mainstream radio was a dream, then it became reality, and only in my wildest dreams, did I think, that Asian music, would make it to a mainstream time slot. We are really excited about being able to do the show and play this music to a massively expanded base of listeners – the revolution has definitely arrived!”

Bobby and Nihal’s Urban/Bhangra show will air every Wednesday night at 21:00 on Radio One. The changes have been designed to ensure Radio 1 is championing the most important new music genres from the UK and around the world in prime time slots across the week.
