‘Race 3’ TV rights priced at Rs. 150 crore?

Ramesh Taurani’s ‘Race’ franchise is looking set to make yet another success, and with Salman Khan taking the baton from Saif Ali Khan for ‘Race 3’, there are talks that fees for satellite rights may double in price.

According to Mid-day, a leading TV channel has already approached the filmmaker and Khan with an offer of Rs 75 crore, but with the star power involved, the asking price is said to be at Rs 150 crore instead! With Khan also co-producing the film, a close source shares, “Salman has also decided to take a percentage of the film’s profit and the earnings from the satellite rights.”

When Taurani was asked about it, he denies any discussion being had, “I am not aware [of this] and I would not like to talk about it.”

The source further adds how Khan’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017) received Rs 70 crore for satellite rights, making it one of the highest paid yet. “Salman Khan’s last outing Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) had earned around Rs 70 crore from the satellite rights, which was said to be the highest price paid for a Bollywood film. With the actor joining the cast of Race 3, Taurani and he are looking at doubling the figure. After a few talks, the duo has decided that they will offer the airing rights at Rs 150 crore.”

Momentum has slowly started to build, as first look posters of each of the characters have been releasing over the course of the week. Alongside Khan, the all-star cast comprises of Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Saqib Saleem, Freddy Daruwala and Daisy Shah. ‘Race 3’ is slated to release on the 15th June.
