Raaj FM & The Sikh Channel collaborate

The UK’s first Sikh religious TV service, The Sikh Channel and Birmingham’s Punjabi community radio station, Raaj FM have announced their new partnership.

The affiliation between the two media organizations will offer radio listeners and television viewers a multi-platform tool that will inform, educate and entertain.

Through this partnership, both media outlets will share resources in order to create joint programming for their users. Based at the heart of the West Midlands community, Raaj FM will continue to cater programming that involves discussing the cultural, social and religious issues that affect the Punjabi community. This awareness chimes with the Sikh Channel which also aims to raise religious and cultural awareness.

The link with Sikh Channel will allow the Raaj FM studios to be used to produce and record television programmes, whilst also allowing radio presenters the opportunity to broadcast and stream their shows on television and online.

Gurpal Singh, Manager of Raaj FM, “By joining forces with The Sikh Channel, we have taken the bold step to unite two popular Asian media organisations. This partnership will allow for our listeners and Sikh Channel viewers, nationwide and around Europe, to enjoy joint high quality broadcasting that embraces our shared cultural values.”

Sikh Channel spokesman, Avtar Singh, “The Sikh Channel is pleased to be working closely and collaborating upon community programming with the Midlands most popular South Asian FM Radio Station. We recently aired a live television broadcast from the Raaj FM studios and this proved extremely popular with viewers and we hope to bring many new jointly produced programmes.”

Sikh Channel’s recent International Turban Awareness Day, supported by Raaj FM, saw thousands attend a gathering outside the Houses of Parliaments.
