‘Raabta’ recreates ‘DDLJ’ magic

Lead actors of ‘Raabta’, Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput have revealed that there is a special tribute to one of the iconic love stories of the 90s.

Reported in the Hindustan Times, the duo have recreated the famous scene between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol at the train station in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (1995) (DDLJ) on the request of Sanon.

Sanon and Rajput have a scene at a railway station in the film and this gave the ‘Heropanti’ (2014) star the idea, which she suggested to director Dinesh Vijan, who agreed to shoot it. “Raabta being a young love story and doing a little tribute to the most loved love story of Bollywood just seemed so apt. We did it for our own mad enjoyment and I can’t believe it has made its way into the film.”

Though it was just a bit of fun recreating the magical moment, Vijan thought it was so good he decided to include it within the film. He said, “The scene needed to underline Kriti’s character who is dying to get one last glimpse of her lover who is leaving her. Looking back, I’m glad we shot an option of the train pulling out and Kriti running alongside it, DDLJ style. I guess it could be a humble little bow to one of our most epic love stories.”
