R Madhavan quits Sony’s Deal Ya No Deal

Actor R Madhavan has quit Sony Entertainment Television Asia’s much hyped gameshow Deal Ya No Deal.

Madhavan completed his contractual agreement of shooting 35-episodes but opted for the contract not to be re-newed. He will be replaced by Sahara One’s Dial One show Mandira Bedi (pictured).

Talking about the sudden reversal of his enthusiasm, Madhavan says, It just wasn’t working out. I had to constantly shuffle dates between the show and my films. I thought I’d need to allot more time to the show only initially, after that I’d just be required for six days a month. But it didn’t work out that way. Every month, the channel would change the set-up, tweak the show here and there and ask me for 12-15 days. My film schedules were suffering. So I decided to quit. I’d rather quit the show than harm my film career.۝

It was a good experience while it lasted,۝ he says, sounding more relieved than regretful. But I don’t think I’ll be returning to television in a hurry again.۝
