Punjjabi TV begins tests ahead of launch

Upcoming Punjabi entertainment channel Punjjabi TV has begun testing off the Sky Digital platform ahead of its official launch.

As revealed first exclusively on BizAsia.co.uk, the channel’s launch is coinciding with the annual Sikh celebrations of Vaisakhi, which take place throughout April.

Whilst programme details are being kept underwraps, EPG data information available suggests a mixture of entertainment and serious current affairs content.

The channel will initially run free-to-air, which is expected to give ZEE Punjabi a run for its money. A previous attempt by rival Channel Punjab resulted in the service closing down last year. Currently ZEE Punjabi remains the UK’s only Punjabi TV channel.

Punjjabi TV has been penned to launch on Vaisakhi Day – Tuesday 14th April, subject to technical tests.

Video and audio tests are expected to begin in the coming days.

EPG data tests can be tuned in by following the steps below:

-> Using your Sky Digi remote, go to Services Menu
-> System Setup (4)
-> Add Channels (4)
-> Enter the frequency: 11.546 (H), FEC 2/3, Symbol Rate 27500
-> Find Channels and Press SELECT
-> Highlight “50460” service and press Yellow button.
-> Return to Services Menu
-> Other Channels (6) on STB / (8) on Sky+
-> “50460” should be listed and available
