There has been a lot of heated debates revolving around Abhishek Chaubey’s next ‘Udta Punjab’. The film which gives us an inside look into today’s growing drug battle, has been ordered to drop ‘Punjab’ from its title, due to the political controversies surrounding the same.

Reports say that the India censor board has ordered the film’s title to be altered after growing opposition from political parties. Not only the title, the censor board has said any reference of Punjab in the film needs to be removed. The Reviewing Committee of the Censor Board are putting more restrictions on the film, and say that it should be based in a ‘fictional’ land, and not Punjab. They are also asking for a lot of cuts in the film. Sources say that the political pressure comes from the Punjab elections that are set to take place next year.

‘Udta Punjab’ stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Diljit Dosanjh, and is slated to release on 17th June.
