Sridevi was seen playing an evil queen in the Tamil fantasy, ‘Puli’. The producers, Thameens and PT Selvakumar say that Sridevi owes them Rs 20 lakh, as shehad asked for Manish Malhotra to be her costumer designer, when they had alreadyhired three different costume designers, along with the extra fees the producers had to payfor the Hindi version, on Boney Kapoor’s behest.

A statement released by the producers, as according to the Hindustan Times states, “We were paying her as per the agreement she had signed at the beginning of the film. However, in the final stages of production, Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor asked us to pay her extra as we were planning to release the film in other languages too. After much deliberation, we decided to pay her 20% of the film’s Hindi satellite rights, which was Rs 55 lakh, and Rs. 15 lakh for the dubbed Telugu version. We had hired three costume designers for Puli, but Sridevi insisted that we sign Manish Malhotra, and we paid him Rs. 50 lakh. She also convinced us to pay Rs 8 lakh for the marketing designer for the film’s Hindi version.”

Sridevi had earlier claimed that the producers owed her Rs 50 lakhs. The producers say that they have spent crores for Sridevi, but shehadn’t evenshown upfor the music launch. ‘Puli’ starred Vijay, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani, and released on 1st October.

Hopefully, the producers and Sridevi sort this out between themselves.
