Puja Bannerjee confirmed as Vanraaj’s ex-girlfriend in ‘Anupamaa’ prequel

Following the immense popularity of the longest-running Television serial ‘Anupamaa’, Disney+ Hotstar is all set to bring the prequel of the show titled ‘Anupama – Namaste America’. The Hotstar Specials show has left no stone unturned to keep the viewers engaged with its gripping narrative and a stellar cast. Apart from the interesting storyline and Anupamaa’s younger look, there’s a lot more in the store for the viewers. Actress Puja Banerjee who was last seen Star Bharat’s ‘Vaishnodevi’ has been roped in for Hotstar Specials ‘Anupma-Namaste America’. Puja will be seen essaying the role of Vanraaj’s ex-girlfriend in the show.

While talking about ‘Anupama- Namaste America’, Puja Banerjee shares, “Me and Sudhanshu share a great bond. We are like best friends! When I heard about Anupama-Namaste America, I was excited to work with him yet again after our first film together Rajdhani Express. In the prequel series, I will be playing the role of Ritika who is Vanraaj’s Ex-girlfriend from his college days. Ritika’s character in the show is bold and empowering which perfectly resonates with my personality. Moreover, It is an overwhelming moment for me to be associated with a highly successful show like Anupamaa and share the screen with such versatile actor Sudhanshu Pandey. I hope viewers will enjoy watching Ritika on the screen as I much as I enjoyed playing it.”

Anupamaa launched in July 2020 for television, is a running series that has already aired over 500 episodes that are available on both Star Plus and Disney+ Hotstar. The original cast of the television has been retained for the prequel and will see Sudhanshu Pandey essay the role of Vanraj, followed by Alpana Buch, Arvind Vaidya, Paras Kalnwat, Ashish Mehrotra and Ekta Sariya reprising the roles of Baa, Bapuji, Samar, Toshi and Dolly respectively. Hotstar Specials presents Anupama- Namaste America will also introduce a brand-new character from Anupamaa’s early years, Moti Baa played by veteran television actor Sarita Joshi. This special character will play a pivotal role in forming Anupamaa’s early life as an aspiring dancer.

‘Anupama- Namaste America’ launches on Hotstar on Monday 25th April 2022.
