PTC Punjabi readies 2011 launch in a big way

PTC Punjabi is getting ready to launch its service in the UK on the Sky Digital platform in 2011,BizAsia.co.ukcan confirm.

PTC Punjabi is expected to rival ZEE Punjabi in a big way with its Gurbani and news coverage, plus Punjabi entertainment through dramas, reality TV shows and awards ceremonies such as PTC Punjabi Music Awards and Miss PTC Punjabi.

PTC Punjabi programmes ‘Straight Talk’, ‘The Masters’, ‘Lokbani’ and news bulletins have been airing on Music India UK for the past couple of years but these will be shifted to the main PTC Punjabi UK channel at launch.

The channel also holds the exclusive rights for Gurbani live from the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. Prior to this, ZEE Network was the sole rights holder and broadcaster for the Gurbani. In the UK, ZEE Punjabi still broadcasts the exclusive coverage but rumour has it that PTC Punjabi is looking at clinching back the Amritsar Gurbani when it launches here next year.

PTC Punjabi commenced operations in India in August 2008 and has become one of the most popular television networks in Punjab. The channel is already available in international markets like the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

PTC Punjabi is eyeing to launch in the UK by mid-2011.
