Production house walks away from ‘Padmavati’ due to costs?

Rumours are rife about ‘Padmavati’ facing another stumbling block after Eros International allegedly walked away from the rather expensive project.

Deccan Chronicle reports that Eros International was not ready to commit to a film that has a budget of whopping Rs. 170 crore. The film was said to have had two production houses backing it – Eros International and Viacom18 but with the former stepping out of the project, it is expected the latter will follow suit.

A source told the publication, ���No corporate house would be willing to dole out the kind of budget that the film requires���not for a costume drama, especially after the debacle of Mohenjo Daro.�۝

The film stars Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
