Producer confirms Sara Ali Khan not approached for Udham Singh biopic

Shoojit Sircar’s biopic on Udham Singh has been in the news ever since the makers confirmed Vicky Kaushal as the lead actor for the project.

On Tuesday, rumours were rife that actress Sara Ali Khan was approached for the film. Now, the makers have clarified that only Kaushal has been locked for their upcoming biographical drama so far, reports Pune Mirror.

Producer Ronnie Lahiri, in an official statement, said, “There is a rumour doing the rounds about the casting of our film, Udham Singh. The only actor on board the project currently is Vicky Kaushal who will play the lead. We would like to categorically state that no other actor or actress as either been approached or offered any role in the film. We request you to refrain from conjecture on this matter. ”

Before the producers put out the clarification, grapevine was abuzz that Khan had politely turned down the role offered to her as it wouldn’t give her much exposure as an actress. There were reports that the dates were clashing with her upcoming project.

Khan has recently signed Imitaz Ali’s next – tentatively tentatively titled ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ – starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead. On the other hand, Kaushal has bagged Karan Johar’s ‘Takht’ that also stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
