Producer Boney Kapoor to head Sahara One business

In quite an unusual move, Sahara India Parivaar has approached film producer, Boney Kappor to revitalise it’s media and entertainment business that includes television broadcasting and film production.

Boney will replace Seemanto Roy, son of Subrata Roy, as head of Sahara One Media and Entertainment Ltd (Somel), according to sources. Seemanto will now concentrate on Sahara’s other businesses.

Boney has come as director of the network to revive it’s TV and film business. Sahara One and it’s sister stations FILMY and Firangi sit at the bottom of the piles in their genres.

Boney shares a close relationship with Sahara. In 2005, he sold the rights of all his movies to Sahara. Again, in 2008, he sold the rights of his biggest hit, ‘Wanted’ and some upcoming films like ‘Milenge Milenge’ to the company.
