As Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’ (2012) continues to impress audiences, Priyanka Chopra, who plays a girl with autism in the film, has made more of an impression than she could have imagined. Her performance in the film has proved so overwhelming that a support group for autistic children, the Forum For Autism, have approached Chopra to become the face of their campaign.

As reported by Bollywood Hungama, Chitra Iyer, Trustee, Forum For Autism, explainedthat Chopra had done immense research into portraying her character, which has been shown through the film. Iyer also went on to say how from this, it was easy to recognise that the actress understood the lives of autistic people and what they go through. The Forum also felt that the actress would be the perfect person to get their message across on a global scale about the cause.

Apparently Chopra, who is currently in Chicago, had kindlyaccepted to the offer, and the Forum will prepare a grand honouring celebration on her return.

‘Barfi!’, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and newcomer Ileana D’Cruz, tells the story of a deaf-mute boy who takes the audience through his journey of troubles, laughs, tears and love.
