Priyanka Chopra: “Sometimes, words that I say are misconstrued creating controversy”

She’s become an international star in her own right, and wherever she goes she seems to win the hearts of everyone all around. However with this comes the scrutiny of being very careful of what to say, and Priyanka Chopra is no stranger to this. Despite being brilliant at representing herself well, she still comes across times where what she’s said has come under scrutiny.

“There are times when I feel, ‘why are you misunderstanding me?’ Sometimes, words that I say are misconstrued and then it creates a controversy. And then, I have to defend it and that becomes another controversy. I don’t like that. I am not mad, and not someone who doesn’t like logic. I am where I am because people have watched me and loved my work. More than half my life, I have been a public person. I started working when I was 17 years old” Hindustan Times reports the actress explaining.

However, understanding her position, and knowing what she can do, Chopra aims to use it in a positive way. “I know I am an influence on people, I know that as a public person, people may not follow what I do because I am not a policy maker and I can’t change things. But, I can help people change their mindset. If my parents had not raised me this way and told me that ambition, opinion is good, I wouldn’t be what I am today. I am very lucky to have such progressive parents. So I want the children of the world, and especially the children of my country to be able to have those parents. I want to tell my peers that [you must] make that change,” the actress went on to add.

As well as continuing her Hollywood career, Chopra will soon be seen gracing the Bollywood scene again, after signing ‘Bharat’ opposite Salman Khan.
