Priyanka Chopra to receive honorary degree

Priyanka Chopra will be receiving a honorary doctorate degree by Bareilly International University. Chopra, whose hometown is Bareilly, will be facilitated with the honour on 24th December.

The actress is being awarded for both her career achievements and her philanthropic work undertaken in her role as a UNICEF ambassador. She is flying to Bareily and will be bestowed the degree by a range of government ministers as well as the University Chancellor. As well as giving a speech on her achievements, the Chancellor will also provide the actress with a memento as she revisits her hometown after 5 years.

Both her mother and her brother will accompany the actress, as she joins the ranks of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan who have also received honorary degrees from around the world. Her mother commented on her pride for her daughter’s achievements stating “It gives me immense joy and satisfaction, that Priyanka’s work for various social causes is being appreciated and felicitated. She justifiably deserves it. May god bless her and give her the strength to do good for those who are less fortunate,” said Madhu Chopra as reported by IndiaTVNews.
