Priyanka Chopra: “Objectification of women is there across the world”
Global icon Priyanka Chopra has has already reached a milestone in her career with all the success she has received in the west. Chopra is one such star who has not just focused on her career but as well made efforts on various global issues such as women rights and education for refugee and girl child. She has even spoken strongly about women empowerment and gender disparity.
Chopra flew to Dubai to speak at the Global Education & Skills Forum (GESF) 2018. At the event, a man questioned her on being partial towards men and she replied in her feminist form, reports Filmfare. She was asked how fair it is when men get slapped by the woman it’s considered okay but a man slapping a woman is considered a crime. She replied, “Physiologically men and women are different. When we talk about equality and opportunity we talk about cerebral opportunity. We are saying you give the ability to get the job, to be the CEO and nobody should question a woman’s choices or her drive to be someone. So if she is 50, a CEO and a mother of three. Do not question her.”
She closed the conversation by saying, “So when a girl slaps a man who teases her, he deserves it.”

Chopra went on to add, “Objectification of women is there across the world and not just in Bollywood. It’s there in music videos, pop songs, big movies etc. Why do those things make money? Who is watching it? Who is buying those tickets? Who is saying it is okay to go watch those movies. It is called demand and supply. Don’t demand it and don’t ask for it. There are a lot of girls who say that they are not okay with that and then they get replaced. There is a big fight that’s happening right now, between the demand and the supply. I think things are changing. I mean decades ago we wouldn’t see a female-centric film opening the box office but today a female starer is getting numbers better than the boys. That is the change that we have seen in our own lifetime.”
