Priyanka Chopra Jonas congratulates ‘Parasite’ team on Oscar 2020 win
Global icon, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has congratulated the team of ‘Parasite’ after scooping the prize of Best Film at the Oscars on Sunday night.
The film walked away with two major coveted prizes – Best Film and Best Actor, upsetting a number of other favourites including ‘1971’. ‘Parasite’, a Korean film, is helmed by Bong Jong-ho.
Taking to Instagram, Chopra Jonas expressed her delight at the achievements of ‘Parasite’. She said, “It is so emotional to see an international film like Parasite, in Korean with English subtitles, not only receive such a warm embrace from audiences around the world but also this kind of recognition from one of the most prestigious film academy’s in the world.”
She added, “It’s time for representation. As people and as entertainers, we are one through entertainment. Our craft has the power to transcend borders and languages, and tonight Parasite demonstrates exactly that.” Filmmaker Bong Jong-ho’s acceptance speech has also won over the audience. He said, “When I was in school, I studied Martin Scorsese films, just to be nominated was an honor. I never thought I would win. When people in the U.S. were not familiar [with my films], Quentin always put my films on his list. Thank you so much. Quentin, I love you. Todd and Sam, great directors I admire. I will drink until next morning.”
