Priyanka Chopra & Freida Pinto produce ‘Girl Rising’

Actresses Priyanka Chopra and Frieda Pinto, who are the brand ambassadors of the ‘Girl Rising’ campaign, have also produced a film for the initiative, titled, ‘Girl Rising- Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi’. The film will feature a number of Bollywood��actresses, including Chopra and Pinto,��and will air on Star Plus, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The film which, also had a Hollywood version release��in 2013, will have��its Hindi version narrated by Amitabh Bachchan, and will feature actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Parineeti Chopra,��Madhuri Dixit, and many others. The initiative is very close to��Priyanka, who stated, “Woh Padegi, Woh Udegi…it’s what I’ve truly believed in and it’s a motto shared by every one of the amazing women who have joined me on this journey for Girl Rising. We’ve all come together to narrate the real life stories that highlight the amazing, positive impact that education can have on young girls. We believe that story telling is a powerful way to inspire people and also to empower them to take action.”

Pinto had an meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the campaign and film. She said, “As a producer of Girl Rising India, I was very honored to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June to talk about Girl Rising and he not only embraced the idea but also suggested that we launch it on Raksha Bandhan.”

‘Girl Rising-Woh Padegi, Woh Udegi’ will air worldwide on Star Plus on 29th August.
