When it comes to providing a social message through his films, Aamir Khan is never one to shy away. It seems he has given the nod to Priyadarshan’s next project which is about AIDs.
The venture is heavily anticipated and, as reported by the ZEE News, Khan has shown much interest in it. Priyadarshan stated, “The project on AIDS is on, but the script is not yet ready… (I had) too many schedules and things to do so couldn`t finish the script. I had discussed it with Aamir earlier and that time he wanted to do the film”.
The director is thought to have admitted that the film will be minus songs, and comedy and will not be commercialised in any way. He had been talking about the project since 2009 but hopes to approach Khan once again, “I will complete the script first and approach him (Aamir) again. If he has time he will do it”.
There have been previous attempts made of films on the topic of AIDs to grace the box office, namely ‘Phir Milenge’ (2004) and ‘My Brother Nikhil’ (2005). Although both received much praise critically, there failed to have an impact at the box office. It remains to be seen whether Khan’s Midas touch works its magic this time.
