Priya Prakash Varrier will be starring in Prasanth Mambully’s upcoming ‘Sridevi Bungalow’, which became the subject of controversy when producer Boney Kapoor had issued a legal notice against the makers of the film due to his objection of the film’s title, and also a particular scene which displays the character Sridevi dying in a bathtub – which is eerily similar to the way veteran actress Sridevi had passed away in 2018.
Talking on the controversy, Varrier was cited in HindustanTimes as saying, “It is actually the director’s and the producer’s concern because I am just portraying a character they gave me. Intentionally it was not on our agenda to hurt anyone’s personal feelings.”
Varrier also touched on the fact that she is a fan of Sridevi, expressing, “I don’t think we should let any negativity affect us because I am just starting my career in films. I am also a very big fan of Sridevi madam and though there was no intention to hurt anybody, we all know that controversies keep happening.”
‘Sridevi Bungalow’ is scheduled to release later this year.
