Prime TV strikes syndication deal with Aaj TV

Popular Pakistani channel Prime TV has announced that it has signed a syndication deal with Pakistan’s news channel Aaj TV.

As part of the agreement, free-to-air channel Prime TV will be able to broadcast Urdu bulletins live from Aaj TV, along with two of its flagship shows, ‘Live with Talat’ and ‘Bolta Pakistan’. Other shows will be confirmed in the coming days.

This is the second such deal Prime TV has done with the Business Recorder Group, which owns Aaj TV. Earlier this month, BizAsia.co.uk exclusively reported that Prime TV will be promoting Asian artists both in Pakistan and UK through a deal with Play TV, owned by the same group.

Aaj TV provides round the clock news coverage from around the world, it is known for popular infotainment and current affair shows like ‘Live With Talat’, ‘Bolta Pakistan’, ‘Late Night Show with Begum Nawazish Ali’, ‘The 4 Man Show’ and ‘Live with Javed Ahmed Ghamidi’.

With this latest move, Prime TV’s deal with Pakistan’s other news broadcaster Dawn News will come to an end. Erum Masood, Programme Controller of the channel told BizAsia.co.uk the reason behind the new initiative, “To understand the audience’s demand we recently conducted a poll asking them the choice of their preferred news medium either Urdu or English.

Like as we always say that; our strength is in our viewer۪s feedback, be it via email, telephone or from personal resources we strive to achieve the best. The results clearly indicated the choice and we had to fund the best and perfect choice.

As the Programming Controller when it comes to quality there is no compromise, our promise to give viewers a screen of their own choice; and that is why we got on board, what was asked for?”

Aaj TV shows on Prime TV will commence in October.
