Preeti Jain convicted of plotting to murder Madhur Bhandarkar

Preeti Jain has been convicted of plotting to murder director Madhur Bhandarkar.  The model has been sentenced to three years in jail and has been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.

Jain, who had earlier filed a rape case against the director, had been accused of hiring gangsters to murder Bhandarkar.  According to AsianAge, she had allegedly already provided monies to the gangsters in 2005 to carry out the act.  As well as her conviction, two other accused were also convicted of the attempted murder plot.

The model has filed for a suspension of the sentence and it remains to be seen what the courts decide next.
