Pradeep Sarkar confirms Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Binodini Dasi biopic

As revealed on BizAsiaLive.com a few days, filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar has confirmed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been signed for his next -a biopic on Binodini Dasi.

Earlier rumours suggested that Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan were in line for the role but for some reason they turned down the offer. It now seems Bachchan has been lured in for the role, who will play the 19th-century Bengali courtesan Binodini’s role.

Confirming the news to Times of India, Sarkar said, “Aishwarya was always on my mind for the biopic. I did reach out to her a few months ago. In the first narration itself, she liked the story and has said ‘yes’ to the project. I seriously think that she will.”

Sarkar also spoke about Binodini Dasi, who was one of the first people in Kolkata to have aspired to be a producer. He said, “What all she had to do to achieve her goal makes an interesting story. She faced a lot of ups and downs. People, who were close to her, took her for a ride. Usne bohot saare dhokhe khaaye hai. It’s a wonderful tale and I hope things fall into place.”
