Prachi Desai: “The industry needs to open up”

After a successful career on Indian television, Prachi Desai switched to Bollywood with ‘Rock On!!’ in 2008.�� However, the actress believes the industry is not opening up to her and filmmakers are not offering her interesting roles.

Desai told IANS, “It’s not like I want to be like this but it’s the kind of roles I keep getting over and over again.�� I blame it on lack of choices. I think filmmakers need to offer me more interesting stuff and I feel that they need to see the real person in me… Yes, I do such (girl next door) roles fairly well but this is not all that I can do.�� I can do much more. The industry needs to open up a little (towards me).”

The actress will next be seen in her mentor Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Azhar’, where she will be seen essaying the role of Mohammad Azharuddin’s first wife, Naureen.�� She will also be seen in ‘Rock On!! 2’.
