Power failure takes Radio XL off air

The Midlands based Radio XL has been hit by a power failure resulting in the station being taken off air.

Radio XL has been off air since 09:30 this morning. The station has informed us that technicians are currently working on the fault to bring the station back up.

The 1296AM channel is currently broadcasting dead air, whilst the DAB channel is displaying “station off air”. Its web stream is also offline.

Usually in situations like this, the playout company who uplinks the radio signal from the transmitter automatically broadcasts an “emergency tape”, which radio stations have ready at times like these. It۪s not known as to why Radio XL has not switched over to its “emergency tape” whilst the fault is being fixed.

Update: Radio XL returned back on air shortly after 13:00.
