Mumbai police is investigating why Sushant Singh Rajput’s third film with Yash Raj Films (YRF) did not release as planned.
Yash Raj Films had signed a three-film contract with Singh Rajput and worked with him on ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013) and ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’ (2015). Singh Rajput’s third film with YRF was supposed to be ‘Paani’ directed by Shekhar Kapur. However, YRF ended up withdrawing from the project and cancelling Singh Rajput’s contract.
The police interviewed Aashish Singh, former Vice President, Production at YRF. According to him, “Sushant did not break the contract. He parted ways on an amicable note. We stayed in touch though. This was 5 years back. The cops called me as they wanted to know about the YRF contract of the actor. There was no internal rift between Sushant and the company.”, ZEE News reported.
Singh Rajput’s last film ‘Dil Bechara’ will release on 24th July on Disney+ Hotstar.
