The recent 150th anniversary of Indian civil rights activist Mahatma Gandhi has naturally revived feelings of patriotism, as Indian citizens paid homage to a man dubbed as the ‘Father of the Nation’.
For Rajkumar Hirani, this act of paying homage culminated in the production of a two-minute film that is dedicated to Gandhi, featuring stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor.
It became known in Hirani’s recent interview with a media outlet that the genesis of his film can be traced back to a meeting with PM Modi, who had actively encouraged making a film for the Indian youth which reminded them of the core Gandhian values.
